Spinning and Blinking

When I first met Dave he was nuts. Ask him, he will tell you all about telepathy and Eazy E. I worked at a Bagel Bakery and one of the guys who worked there lived in Dave's basement. I used to walk over to his house around 5AM to catch a ride to work. Everything in the house at that point either blinked or spun. Most of it did both. The first time I ever got high on marijuana--not the first time I smoked--I mean the first time I realized it was a DRUG was sitting on the couch 5:30 with everything spinning and blinking with Dave blasting Throbbing Gristle records at us before he went to bed. So years later Dave has a Box Elders light that spins and blinks on the inside of his kick drum. You can see it in action in this video of us playing at Sokol Auditorium in July.

Places and People we like #1-Funhouse-Seattle, WA

We played at Seattle's Funhouse earlier this year. Brian and the rest of his staff treated us to some BBQ and plenty of Olympia beer. The club is right across the street from the Space Needle so we got to play tourist without straying off too far. Despite being on a Monday nite there was a decent crowd and everyone seemed pretty receptive. Someone over at finest kiss wrote something about the show. The sound man put us up at his house/studio and we slept good. One of the better clubs We've been too. Right on Funhouse!

Bio is an industry term for Biography

Clubs have been asking us for a bio. So here it is, the Box Elders story

Box Elders started in 2005. Clayton and I named the band after the bugs that infested the house we grew up in. We had a snare drum with hundreds of dead box elder bugs in it. When you hit it you could hear them rattling around. Originally our Mom was in the band, but she quit. We played around with some other drummers but really wanted Dave. He saw us play a free show in a park and we talked him into it. Instead of adding a fourth member Clayton and I told Dave to figure out how to play drums and keyboards at the same time. It took some practice. We recorded some songs and put out 45 which people seemed to like. ---

Also, here are some pics from us at Gonerfest 5. Canderson took the one of Clayton and Mr. Bullyrook took the other two.

Welcome to my Library

I know you are all curious as to what lies upon the shelves in Danzig's Library. Perhaps you should take a look and find out for yourself.

THOR

Right before he joined Box Elders Dave did a tour with Thor, former Mr. Canada and "Legendary Rock Warrior". Dave impressed Thor with his drumming and pyrotechnic wizardry, earning the title "Flameboy". Take a look at "Keep The Dogs Away" from 1977 and witness the coming of THOR!

Horncocks!!!

Our Mom helped Clayton make this outfit for one of our first shows. He wanted to look like Conan but looked more like a Neo-Druid version of Cliff Burton. He left the loincloth in the trunk of my car and it ended up getting towed away by the City of Omaha. On our last tour we stopped to see the Thing? and Clayton was inspired by all of the torture scenes to make a new outfit. Luckily they sold a variety of animal hides and tails. He put it together and tried it out in Austin. The bartender at Beerland complained about Clayton's ass hanging out. Clayton was going to buy a gator head in New Orleans for a codpiece but we lost it somewhere in the swamp.
